COMM 120 Public Speaking 3 Credits
Prerequisite: English Composition
Public Speaking introduces the student
to skills and strategies need for effective
public speaking in academic and professional
settings. They are also taught to research,
collect, and organize materials for delivering
speeches in a coherent manner. Students
will learn and deliver the different types
of speeches such as informative, persuasive,
actualize impromptu and entertaining.
The students are taught how to understand,
participate, and evaluate oral discourse.
The course is meant to help them improve
confidence in delivering various types
of speeches effectively.
COMM 230 Business Communication
3 Credits
Prerequisite: English Composition
Business Communication focuses on learning
the dynamics of business communication:
the skills and competencies needed to
be successful in the workplace and the
issues critical to successful business
communication such as ethics, cultural
diversity, team work, technology, business
writing and audience centered messages.
COMM 231 Technical Communication
3 Credits
Prerequisite: English Composition
Technical Communication will teach students
skills used to communicate technical and
scientific information to various audiences
clearly, accurately, and correctly. Students
will learn to organize information, and
produce technical, informative, persuasive
documents, presentations and technical
reports.
