ENGL 090 Foundation Course in English 3 Credits
Foundation Course in English will allow students to identify their problem areas and learn the tools and skills for improvement. Remedial English is a non-transfer class intended for students lacking preparation for college-level courses. The students will be introduced to the various phases of writing; generating ideas, organizing, outlining, drafting, revising, and editing. They will learn the strategies for dealing with ESL problems, and the grammatical conventions of Standard English.


ENGL 110 English Composition 3 Credits
English Composition develops the student’s ability to read critically and to communicate effectively in writing. The course exposes students to reading selections, diverse in subject and style, and cultural perspective. Incorporates the principles of standard grammatical and stylistic usage studied in the foundation course. In addition the course introduces the student to tools of scholarly research and methods of documentation of sources in the MLA format.


ENGL 120 Survey of World Literature 3 Credits
Prerequisite: English Composition Survey of World Literature incorporates various works of great literary writers from around the world. Students will learn to critically read and interpret these literary works and appreciate their diversity thus broadening their awareness. The course will allow students to further develop their writing skills by using the various literary styles as introduced.
