HIST 120 Themes in World History I 3 Credits
Themes in World History I traces the lineage of culture and civilization from the ancient to the end of the medieval period, both in the western and non-western worlds. The course aims to make students appreciate the relevance of history in the study of humanities. It introduces students to the reading primary and secondary historical texts. Finally, the course provides a foundation for other social science or interdisciplinary courses through reading, critical thinking and cogent writing.
HIST 230 Themes in World History II 3 Credits
Prerequisite: Themes in World History I
Themes in World History II teaches the implication, consequences and differing experiences in the Western and non-Western worlds. It takes into account the economic, political, cultural and societal change from the medieval to the modern period. It is the foundation to the study of political science, philosophy and interdisciplinary studies. It enhances students’ skills in critically reading primary and secondary texts.
