Q1. What is ECMIT?
The Emirates College for Management & Information Technology (ECMIT) is a private, non-federal, two-year institution of higher education located in Dubai , U.A.E. The College is licensed by the U.A.E. Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. ECMIT offers a two-year Associate of Science in Business or Information Technology.
ECMIT has been offering academic programs since 1998.
Q2. What is Associate of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies degree?
An Associate of Science (AS) degree is received after completing two years of study similar to the first two years of a 3 or 4 year college. After earning an AS, you may transfer to a 3 or 4 year college to complete the requirements for a bachelor's degree.
Q3. Is Emirates College for Management and Information Technology recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education?
ECMIT is recognized as an institution of higher education by the UAE Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

Q5. What are the degree requirements?
The Associate of Science degree consists of a minimum of 60 semester credit hours, 30 or more of which must be earned at ECMIT with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0.
1 credit hour = 3 hrs of student work per week over 15 week period.
Q6. What are the admission requirements?
To be fully admitted as a first-time college freshman or as a transfer student, the applicant must have graduated with a U.A.E. Secondary Certificate or its equivalent with a sufficiently strong academic record, especially in English and mathematics. The applicant must also have taken TOEFL, IELTS or similar English Proficiency Test. The minimum requirements for regular full admission include:
- A completed and signed application for admission.
- An official transcript of a U.A.E. Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent showing an average of 55% and above without having failed any subject. The College accepts certificates awarded by national and international boards.
- Students must meet English Language proficiency requirements. To complete the requirements for admission, applicants must take English Proficiency Test like TOEFL/IELTS/ LTE. A minimum score of 500 in TOEFL or its equivalence in similar tests, is required for admission to ECMIT
- Passing score of 60 % or more on the placement test for Mathematics.
- For transfer applicants, good standing at the last college attended with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended showing sufficient academic achievement or potential to succeed at ECMIT. They must also have the minimum score in English Proficiency Test like TOEFL/IELTS.
- A written essay about the applicant's educational aspirations and the role that ECMIT will play in facilitating the applicant's personal and professional interests.

Q7. Do I have to take a test?
All students to be admitted to ECMIT will have to take the placement tests.
Q8. Is there a fee for the placement test?
Yes, there is a fee for placement test.
Q9. What happens in the placement test?
Students not meeting English Language proficiency requirements will have to take the placement test. The placement test will evaluate the students' language competency level to do an academic program. However to regularize admission, applicants must take English Proficiency Test like TOEFL/IELTS/ LTE. A minimum score of 500 in TOEFL or its equivalence in similar tests, is required for regular admission to ECMIT
The English test will be based on TOEFL model
The students will be tested in the areas of:

- Reading and Comprehension

- Listening and speaking
The Math Placement exam is designed to test your background and skills that may prove useful in later math course as well as other subject course that involves the use of mathematics.
The math's component of the placement test will last 1 hour and is designed to test your basic maths skills, for example:
- basic math's
- algebra
- basic factorisation
- linear equations
- trigonometry
- statistics
Q10 Where will the placement test take place and what should I bring with me?
The placement test will take place at ECMIT campus at Al Nahda Area, Dubai . Writing material will be provided to very candidate. You may however, bring a simple, non-programmable calculator and writing instruments. The use of cellular phones or other devices as calculators will not be permitted.
Q11 What are the admission requirements for students transferring from other colleges?
Good standing at the last college attended with a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.0 and official transcripts from all colleges and universities previously attended showing sufficient academic achievement or potential to succeed at ECMIT. They must also have the minimum score in English Proficiency Test like TOEFL/IELTS.
| Q12. What if I do not meet the admission criteria fully, can I get provisional admission and take up remedial courses to reach to the admission criteria?
First-time freshman and transfer applicants whose records of past academic achievements fall below the minimum requirements of regular full admission, but whose accomplishments show sufficient promise for success at ECMIT as judged by the Manager of the Office of Admissions may be granted provisional admission.
The criteria for being granted provisional admission is as under:
- An official transcript of UAE Secondary School Certificate or its equivalent showing an average of 50% without having failed any subject.
- Passing scores of 60 % or more on the placement tests for English and Mathematics.
- Students meeting other admission criteria but not obtaining passing scores in placement tests will be admitted to the Access Program.
- They will be fully admitted to College following their demonstrating English Language proficiency with minimum required score.

Q13.What opportunities does ECMIT provide for students who need to do a special course in English?
ECMIT now provides an Intensive English Language course. Students taking up this English language course will be required to pass it successfully in order to be able to take up a standardized English proficiency test, to meet the admission regualization criteria.
Q,14 My results have not been declared can I still apply for admission?
Students in final year of secondary school can apply for early admission by submitting official grade reports of the previous two years of secondary school. Admission will be regularized upon submitting the official results and meeting all other entry requirements too.
Q15. Are the classes held during the day-time or in the evening?
Classes at ECMIT are held both at the daytime and in the evening.

Q16. Can I continue my studies even if I am working full time?
Yes, ECMIT has both morning and evening classes so the students who cannot attend daytime classes can very well continue their education in the evening.

Yes, there are several important advantages. Emirates College being a two year college is much less expensive, more conveniently located and offers greater flexibility in customizing the educational program than the four-year colleges in UAE.

- You can transfer your credits to any American or Canadian Universities and complete your bachelor’s degree in 2 years.
- You can transfer your credits to any UK or Australian Universities and complete your bachelor’s degree in 1 -11/2year.
- Transfer to eCMIT campus in Bombay and complete Champlain College program in 15 months.
- Complete bachelor’s degree online or staying at distance in Dubai in 1 year.

Yes, the college can provide visa to deserving students who take admission in the college.
Q30.What are the eligibility conditions in order to apply for a student's visa?
Students requiring college sponsorship should meet the local laws and regulations regarding visa and immigration formalities. There are a few terms and conditions for all those who will apply for a student's visa:
- Students under college sponsorship must enroll as full time students attending at least two semesters per year.
- Once the student is admitted and if he/she fails to maintain the G.P.A of 2.00, the college reserves the right not to renew his/her sponsorship.
- Students on college sponsorship cannot undertake employment as per labor law of UAE.
- Medical expenses to be borne by the students.
- Submit the original Passport, new visa, medical certificate and 3 photographs to the college for stamping the visa in the passport. The processing time will be 2 weeks.
Q31. What are the ECMIT requirements for the student's visa?
There are certain requirements that have to be fulfilled when applying for a student's visa such as:
- One year nonrefundable fees to be paid in advance upon acceptance and before the visa is issued.
- A refundable deposit of Dhs 1000/-
- Passport and Dhs 1500/- to be submitted for visa.
- A complete medical test report from a government medical center.
- Students should submit their original Passport, new visa, medical certificate and 3 photographs to the college for stamping the visa in the passport. The processing time will be 2 weeks.
Q32. Is the student permitted to keep his/her passport after they attain the visa from college?
No, the student passport will be kept with the college and a copy is given to the student. If in case the student requires his/her passport for any reason he/she will have to deposit Dhs 1000/-. The deposit would be refundable when the passport is returned.
Q33.Is there a separate tuition fee structure for international students?
No, there is no separate tuition fee structure for the international students. But at the time of admission international students have to pay a registration fee of AED:500/- and an international student fee of AED:4500/- (it's a one time fee).
Q34. Does the college have any other accreditation?
Yes, Emirates College programs are also validated by BAC , UK .
